The TT:

More than 100 years on and thrill seekers still venture to the Isle of Man every summer for the same reason the gentlemen of 1907 did, the Tourist Trophy more commonly known as the Isle of Man TT.

It was the spirit of competition that brought the original TT competition to the Island as racing on the highways and byways of Britain was impossible, forbidden by Act of Parliament and the 1903 20mph speed limit.

With a Centenary of racing on the Mountain Course now fast approaching in 2011, it will not be long before we are celebrating a double century of the world’s most exciting road race.

And this year Chandlers Bikes are sponsoring Dan Stewart.

Since 2006, Cumbrian motorcycle dealer Stewart has been well to the fore in every single TT race, always pushing Rennie in the race for the leading privateer and this year should be no exception. Now fully recovered from a broken leg sustained in a short circuit crash last August, Stewart has a new Superbike at his disposal in the shape of an ex-Chris Walker World Superbike machine and that should see him go quicker still and, potentially, better his best result of 6th, recorded in last year’s Senior race. The Superstock race should again see him comfortably inside the top ten whilst he also has Steve Plater’s British Championship winning machine for the Supersport races, which should again allow him to better his already impressive results in the class.

Keep up with the action starting from the practice sessions from 29 May.
